The College of St. Scholastica holds its annual Community Service Day

Wielding a dust mopEach year the students, faculty, and staff of the College provide a day of service to the community. Volunteer options are many. They work at Habitat for Humanity, YMCA, and the Second Harvest Food Bank. They help harvest and clean up in the Duluth Community Garden programs, bake CHUM Pies to benefit the Churches United in Ministry food shelf, and bring some sunshine to residents in nursing homes.

On campus they prepare some of the College gardens for winter and do the autumn deep cleaning of Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel.

What a hardworking and dedicated group of volunteers! They are friendly and courteous; indeed, they emulate our Benedictine values.

Blessings on all as they give themselves to others in need!

“Listen carefully, my child, to your master's precepts, and incline the ear of your heart. Receive willingly and carry out effectively your loving father's advice, that by the labor of obedience you may return to Him from whom you had departed by the sloth of disobedience.”
–St. Benedict of Nursia, The Rule of Saint Benedict
