Dear Friends of McCabe,
“Expect to have hope rekindled. Expect your prayers to be answered in wondrous ways.
The dry seasons in life do not last. The spring rains will come again.” -Sarah Bon Breathnach
Our hopes for the future of ministry here at McCabe have been rekindled and our dry land has been blessed with the rain of generosity from you, our benefactors and supporters. Your contributions of time, treasure, and talents through 2009, as well as your amazing response to our Friends of McCabe Festival on March 4th, have made it possible for us to build our scholarship fund, strengthen our programs, and replace our big swing in the yard as well as many furnishings within the Center. All of these improvements are strengthening our commitment of creating a welcoming atmosphere of hospitality and healing. St. Benedict reminds us that all guests are to be received as Christ.
I want to specially thank Mike Maxim, the owner of the Dubh Linn Pub, for offering to do a fundraiser for McCabe at his Irish “hospitality center.” Mike donated the use of his pub, as well as snacks, and many beautiful silent auction items for the Friends of McCabe Festival. His generous and creative spirit made this dream a reality. The success and the blessing of this event was the result of collaboration between the McCabe staff, gifted and talented entertainers, enthusiastic volunteers, and generous donors, as well as more than two hundred and fifty participants. Our gross income from the evening was $16,500! It was a wonderful celebration of friendship and community. It also brought a deep awareness of God’s love multiplying through every person who participated. The staff joins me in thanking all of you!
We hope you’ll be able to join us for some of our summer programs or a private retreat day just for you. Each retreat or workshop at McCabe offers a rich opportunity to grow in the sunshine of God’s love. Together let us continue to pray for healing in our Church and in our world.
May our loving God fill your heart with peace this summer and surround you with the beauty of creation.
