I Made a Sign

little

I was so excited the other day when I made a sign advertising the weekday Mass in the Oratory of The College of St. Scholastica. I am not quite sure why I took delight in something so simple and so ordinary, but I did.

Do you ever find yourself getting exited about “the little things?” Maybe you hear your favorite song on the radio or you find a dollar bill in your coat pocket, or you might smile to yourself when a butterfly lands next to you or a parking spot opens up.

Life can be stressful and the day when I took joy in making a sign, was one of those days. I was rushing about taking care of many things. My mind was cluttered and full of worries. It seems that finding joy in the little things can help bring balance to our demanding days.

We all want to be happy, yet joy is elusive at times. One reason could be that we expect to find happiness in big things, like winning the lottery or going on a Caribbean cruise. Another reason could be that we are too busy to see that happiness is all around us, to notice the sunset or appreciate the people in our lives.

Being attentive to the little things and giving ourselves space and time to enjoy the simple things of life is necessary to find happiness. Life is made up of the little things, so enjoying them for all their worth is bound to bring a positive vibe to our days.

What little thing has brought happiness to you? In what simple things do you find joy? As for me, I made a sign.
