Our HomeLocated on a hill with a commanding view of Lake Superior, St. Scholastica Monastery shares its 186-acre campus with The College of St. Scholastica, the Benedictine Health Center, and Westwood Senior Apartments. The campus lies between a city park and undeveloped woodlands filled with pine and maple, lupine and daisies. Duluth, MinnesotaFounded as a trading post more than 300 years ago, the site that would become Duluth, Minnesota, is located on the western-most tip of Lake Superior — the largest freshwater lake in the world. Thanks to this geographic connection to the Great Lakes, Duluth is the largest, farthest-inland seaport with steep hillside views unlike any other in the Midwest. In fact, when you look down 600 feet from the city's Skyline Drive, out across the great Gitchi-Gummi (Lake Superior's age-old Native American name) you can scarcely tell where sea and sky come together. Here, the horizon is endless, and so are the possibilities. ![]() Our Monastery stands on top of a hill with a commanding view of Lake Superior. ![]() We welcome friends to the beauty around us. ![]() The Duluth Lakewalk follows the shore line for 6 miles. ![]() A “Salty,” an ocean-going vessel, glides beneath the historic Aerial Lift Bridge from the harbor to Lake Superior as it begins its long journey to its home port. |
